What’s a yeast infection?
It starts with that first hint of an itch or telltale vaginal discharge. And can escalate to all out discomfort all too quickly. The dreaded yeast infection. Also called vulvovaginal candiadisis, vaginal yeast infections can occur with a disruption to the vaginal microbiome—the bacteria and microbes that together provide immune and other health benefits. Unfortunately, anything from a round of antibiotics, to diet, to those feminine hygiene practices that can do more harm than good can cause a vaginal disruption. Luckily, for those unlucky enough to suffer from an infection there are ways to treat a yeast infection and good habits to adopt that can help keep a future occurrence at bay.
